Sierra Nevada Colombian IBL

Flowering 11-14 Weeks (77-95 Days)

It is a strain from a selection of over 20 years of red point with its own purple phenotypes.  This strain was born in Santa Marta, Sierra Nevada, Colombia, around 1972. It has been cultivated in areas such as Guajira and Minca, Magdalena.  There are many Punto Rojo varieties, we have at least 12 different Punto Rojo phenotypes, although they all share common characteristics. Definitely if you plant it outdoors or if you give it some domestic care, the results will be similar.

This variety is the Crown Jewel in Cannabis, but Commercial Banks and laboratories stopped liking it, first for not making a good selection in the field, and second for its high percentage of undesirable characteristics such as Hermaphroditism, more so if it is grown Indoor, since it must be remembered that this variety is a product of Inbreeding in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a very Wild Environment and NATURAL SELECTION.

However, like everything in Cannabis it is about selection, and thus we have found parents with many fewer undesirable characteristics, however we will never believe someone who says that Punto Rojo is a STABLE plant unless it reproduces by already selected parental cuttings .

The purple phenotypes of the strain correspond to varieties grown in high mountains, where humidity and rain conditions favor the stabilization of this strain, turning it into the dark version of Punto Rojo.

  • Color, Appearance and Structure: 100% sativa strain, Elongated buds with pistils that vary from red to fuchsia. The presence of trichomes with foreign bodies suggests an adaptation to its natural environment.  The shape and development of trichomes are adaptations to face adverse conditions, such as extreme climates or pest attacks. Trichomes take certain shapes since they develop to be able to defend themselves against very adverse weather conditions
  • Aroma and Flavor: The aromas and flavors are very sweet since it is the tropical variety and it is said that the true offspring of the tropicanas comes from it.  Cannabinoids, hormones and other active components are enhanced by the adverse conditions in which the plant is grown. This can influence the effects and flavor profile of the strain
  • Flowering Time: The flowering time is 11-14 weeks since it has different ripening points where its active components change
  • Effects: The effect is also very euphoric with happiness, creativity and active dynamics
